Practicing prenatal yoga will help during the transformations of pregnancy and birth. The breath is the key and by connecting the breath with postures (asanas) you will develop increased awareness, confidence and focus. Prenatal yoga incorporates gentle, safe movements to strengthen and stretch your body in preparation for labour and birth; breathing exercises to increase calm, focus and balance; and deep relaxation techniques to release tension and promote the well being of yourself and your baby. Pregnancy is a time for moderation, so you are always encouraged to modify movements or to rest as necessary.
Who can practice prenatal yoga?
These classes are open to women enjoying a healthy pregnancy during the second and/or third trimesters. Previous experience in yoga is not necessary and beginners are most welcome. It is recommended to ask your health care provider if yoga is appropriate for you.
